The L-PRES project in Sokoto State is really making strides in boosting pasture production and supporting livestock farmers.
The distribution of machines and irrigation facilities is a great step towards ensuring year-round availability of fodder for livestock.
The training provided to beneficiaries on how to operate and maintain the equipment is also a plus, as it’ll help them get the most out of the machines.
In its effort to boost pasture production, the Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES) in Sokoto State has distributed machines and irrigation facilities to pasture production farmers.
The items distributed include crushers, choppers, tillers, pelleting machines, submersible and surface solar-powered boreholes, irrigation facilities, and irrigation kits.
The initiative is aimed at supporting pasture producers to ensure year-round availability of fodder for livestock.
It is also designed to enhance pasture production, create job opportunities, and promote value addition that will fetch premium prices for their produce.
Speaking at the event, the State Project Coordinator, Sirajo Abubakar, said the intervention is one of several initiatives introduced by L-PRES to improve pasture production in Sokoto.
He explained that in addition to receiving the equipment, beneficiaries also underwent training to enable them to operate and maintain the machines effectively.
