ZSUBEB Chairman urges contractors to exercise professionalism, uphold contract agreement

The Executive Chairman of Zamfara State Universal Basic Education Board (ZSUBEB), Professor Nasir Garba Anka, Makaman Sokoto South, has charged contractors handling the Board’s projects to exercise professionalism, focusing on transparency, fairness, and strictness in upholding contractual agreements in the discharge of their duties.

The statement explained that, Professor Anka gave the charge during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the Board’s Headquarters in Gusau with contractors, engineers, and representatives of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

He maintained that the meeting was convened to ensure all contractors understand the ethical and professional expectations of the state government in implementing education projects under the 2024 UBEC/ZSUBEB Matching Grant Intervention.

The Chairman reminded the contractors of Governor Dauda Lawal’s Rescue Mission Agenda, particularly his unwavering commitment to revamping the education sector in Zamfara State. He urged them to complement the Governor’s efforts by executing quality projects that will stand the test of time.

“You must be just, fair, and patriotic in the execution of your contracts. Do not give anything to anyone; rather, demonstrate integrity and serve as true ambassadors of Zamfara State. Our collective goal is to ensure that every kobo invested in education yields visible and lasting results,” Professor Anka stated.

Earlier, the Director of Physical Planning welcomed participants and explained that the essence of the meeting was to educate and sensitize contractors on the guidelines and expectations of the 2024 intervention projects. He encouraged them to display commitment, discipline, and professionalism in handling their assignments.

In his remarks, the Managing Consultant, Builder Idris Abubakar Fello, highlighted the roles and responsibilities of contractors and engineers, outlining the standard procedures required for delivering quality work. He stressed the need for strict compliance with project specifications and timelines.

Also speaking, the Deputy Resident Commissioner of ICPC, Katsina Zonal Office, Suleiman Muhammad Maishanu,underscored the commission’s role in monitoring and ensuring accountability in public contracts. He advised contractors to abide by all terms and conditions of their contract agreements and maintain transparency throughout the project execution process.

The meeting provided an interactive platform for participants to ask questions and share experiences on challenges affecting project delivery, as part of the Board’s renewed effort to promote accountability, quality assurance, and the success of educational development initiatives across Zamfara State.
