Villa stage impressive fightback to sink Spurs with Rogers, Buendía goals

Aston Villa overturned an early deficit to earn a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday, with goals from Morgan Rogers and substitute Emiliano Buendía sealing the comeback in style.

Tottenham looked in control early on, striking just five minutes into the match. A well-worked move saw João Palhinha rise to head the ball down into the path of Rodrigo Bentancur, who made no mistake with a cleanly struck half-volley.

However, Villa quickly found its rhythm. Morgan Rogers sparked the turnaround with a thunderous strike from distance that left Spurs keeper Guglielmo Vicario rooted to the spot, levelling the contest with a moment of individual brilliance.

The momentum continued to shift in the second half, and it was Buendía, brought off the bench, who made the difference. The Argentine midfielder showed composure and precision, curling home a beautiful finish into the far corner to give Villa the lead.

Tottenham pushed for an equaliser in the closing stages, but Unai Emery’s side remained disciplined and resilient, seeing out the result to claim all three points and extend their strong form at home.
