Gov Lawal tasks Corps Members on discipline, professionalism

The Executive Governor of Zamfara State, Dr. Dauda Lawal, has urged corps members to internalize exercising discipline and professionalism as hi core values of the NYSC scheme during their one year service in the state.
Governor Lawal made the call in an address at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II Orientation Course held on Tuesday at NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp, UBEC Training Centre, Gusau.
The governor who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Sports, Alhaji Nasiru Galadima Kaura, praised the corps members for their discipline, resilience and commitment throughout the three-week exercise.
While highlighting the impact of corps members in various sectors of the state, the governor invited them to align with his administration’s Rescue Agenda, which focuses on restoring peace, rebuilding infrastructure, revitalizing the economy and improving the living standard of citizens.
“As you proceed to your primary assignments, bring your youthful energy, creativity and patriotism to bear. Be diligent, responsible and innovative. Let your service year be a testament to your commitment to Nigeria’s unity, peace and progress”, he stressed.
Dr. Lawal further assured corps members of government’s unwavering commitment to their security and welfare, and directed all Local Government Chairmen and community leaders to warmly receive and support corps members posted to their domains.
Earlier in his remarks, the NYSC Zamfara State Coordinator, Mallam Muhammad Lawan Ahmed, had disclosed that the orientation course content which featured drills, leadership and citizenship training, SAED programmes, cultural activities and inter-platoon competition was designed to build the corps members’ capacity for national service.
He noted that the current batch comprises medical personnel, trained teachers and other professionals who have demonstrated discipline and commitment to make impact in the state.
While appreciating the state government for its continued support to the scheme, the Coordinator appealed to stakeholders to give the new corps members the necessary support to settle down to their duties.
Highlight of the ceremony was a colourful parade to mark the end of the three-week exercise.
