Education Commissioner leads monitoring exercise in Sokoto Schools

The Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Sokoto State, Professor A.L. Ala, chaired a brief but strategic meeting with monitoring team members this morning ahead of the ongoing statewide school supervision exercise.

The meeting, held at Tafida Aminu Government Day Secondary School, Mabera, commenced at 7:21 AM, marking Week 5, Day 4 of the comprehensive monitoring program. During the session, the Commissioner received reports from various teams based on their activities and findings from the previous day’s exercise. Several critical issues concerning the quality of education and school operations were deliberated upon.

Information Officer Ibrahim Iya in a statement said following the meeting, all monitoring teams proceeded to their assigned zones to continue the supervision activities.

As part of monitoring, Professor Ala personally visited Government Day Secondary School (GDSS) Dogon Daji, ABSS Dogon Daji, and Junior Secondary School (JSS) Mandera. At each of these schools, the Commissioner interacted with both students and teachers inside the classrooms. He asked questions related to the ongoing lessons and reviewed teachers’ lesson notes and plans to ensure alignment with curriculum standards.

In addition, Prof. Ala held discussions with school staff, emphasizing the importance of collaboration in achieving significant progress in the education sector of Sokoto State. His visits underline the Ministry’s commitment to accountability, quality assurance, and continuous improvement across all schools in the state.

The Ministry remains dedicated to transforming the educational landscape of Sokoto State through consistent monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and effective policy implementation.
