The people of Nnewi in Nnewi North Local Government Area of Anambra State have celebrated the Executive Chairman, Mayor Echezona Anazodo, as he marked one year in office.
The Anniversary witnessed the commissioning of Nnewi North Legislative Chambers, reconstructed and equipped by Mayor Echezona Anazodo’s Administration to a level that could pass for a national standard, and perhaps the best in the State.
Mayor Echezona Anazodo, who had on Wednesday, 1st of October, 2025, marked one year in office, had recorded enormous achievements and was glamorously honored by his people.
The event was gracefully attended by His Royal Highness, Igwe K.O.N. Orizu III, represented by the Crown Prince, Prince Obianaefo Orizu, the Obi of Uruagu, His Highness Obi Afam Obi Ogidi, Obi of Umudim, and Obi Bennett. Okafor Amaukwu Nnewi, the President General of Nzuko-ora Nnewi, Hon. Jude Osumuoh, Otolo PG, Hon. Amobi Adukwulu, Uruagu PG, Hon Innocent Okoli, Organizer of oil and gas, Supervisor for Special Duties, Chief Augustine Jidiofor(Austin Manuel), former Nnewi North TC Chairman, Hon. Chris Obiora, among others.
Mayor Echezona Anazodo, while addressing a mammoth crowd, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his people, the people of Nnewi, his hard-working team, who, according to him, stood by him since day one he started the journey till today.
He enumerated some of his administration verifiable accomplishments as: construction of Ukwaka Bridge at Umudim, donation of security patrol vehicles that boosted the security architecture of Nnewi North, a Naira empowerment grant for Nnewi Youths through the town Youth Forum, construction of Enem-Azigbo Road, Egbu Umuenem Otolo by St Paul’s Ang. Church, introduction of operation zero potholes on major roads within Nnewi, Construction of Sir Odumegwu Ojukwu Plaza that houses over 176 shops to reduce pressure on available shops, construction of standard drainage system with Culverts at F line Agbo Edo main market Nnewi, acquisition of brand new vehicle for proper waste management system in the Local Government, distribution of seedlings and fertilizers to farmers in Nnewi to enhance food production, construction of market halls and offices in Mgbuka motor parks/F line, construction of public toilets in Oduigbo market, installation of 15kva solar systems in Nnewi North Local Government secretariat, and other ongoing construction projects.
The mayor noted that they made it this far because of their collaborative engagement with the state government, especially now that they have conquered opposition, as demonstrated in the last three elections.
“On behalf of Ndi Nnewi, I thank our Governor, Prof Charles Chukwuma Soludo for what looks like preferential treatment for Nnewi.
“I therefore urge Ndi Nnewi to support the Governor massively for a second tenure. With your collective support, we strongly hope to do more” he promised.
Highlights of the event included a march past, dance, and prize awards to schools that participated in the march past.
