Police arrest Six persons involved in killing of constable in Amarata-CP

The Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Francis Idu has confirmed the arrest of Six suspects allegedly involved in the August killing of a Police Constable, Oboh Goodluck by suspected cultists along the OMPADEC area of Amarata community in Yenagoa, the State capital.

According to CP Idu, the key suspects, who is identified to have been involved in multiple cases of murder and wanted by the Police, will soon be apprehended.

The Police Commissioner, Francis Idu, who made this known during the Service of Songs parade and the Lying in State for the deceased Constable Oboh Goodluck, said the police will ensure that the key suspects and those involved in the killing area brought to book.

He warned that those involved in acts of violent attacks against the Police should be warned that the police authorities will use all arsenal’s in its disposal to ensure that they are brought to justice.

He assured the family of the deceased Police constable that that attacked a police man will face dire consequences and assured the men of the ranks and file that the top echelon of the Nigerian Police Force will have their backs irrespective of any circumstances.

According to him, “The deceased Constable acted within the law to confront and defend the people from arm against Seven hoodlums. Goodluck Oboh gave his life to save the Bayelsa citizenry. If he had succeeded,he would have beaten his chest that he is a peace keeper.”

The Police Commissioner announced that a formal request will be sent to the State Governor, Senator Douye Diri to make the site of his killing a monument for him to be remembered.

The representative of the Ayadei/Oboh family, Comrade Kwokwo Robert, while appreciating the authorities of the Nigerian Police for the assistance in the final burial rites of the deceased Constable,called for Justice in the killing of their son.

According to him, “The relief we pray for, as a family, is justice. Those responsible for the killing should also pay the supreme price.”
