The Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission, Hon. Danjuma Abdul Masu, has convened a meeting with chairmen of various sports associations in the state.

Accordingly, the meeting aimed to introduce Hon. Masu as the pioneer chairman of the NSSC and provide a platform for discussion on the challenges hindering sports development in the State.

During the meeting, Hon. Masu emphasized the importance of grassroots engagement, stating that his mission is to focus on identifying and nurturing hidden talents across the state to give them a proper platform to excel.

He highlighted the significance of sports infrastructure in promoting participation and pledged to prioritize this through partnerships and government intervention.

The NSSC chairman also announced plans to revive the State Sports festival, which had been dormant for 30 years.

This initiative he said is particularly timely, given the state’s bid to host the National Sports Festival.

Hon. Masu revealed plans to establish zonal offices to enhance productivity and ensure the involvement of all local governments.

However he commended Senator Sani Musa 313 for constructing a mini community stadium in Niger East senatorial district, which is set for commissioning.

He noted that the Sports Commission is engaging with other stakeholders to replicate this gesture.

The meeting resolved for a quarterly meeting between the commission and the chairmen to give ample opportunity to constantly brainstorm on ways to move sports forward.

In their remarks, some of the sports association chairmen praised the NSSC’s “catch them young” initiative and pledged their support for the commission’s efforts to advance sports development in the state.

The meeting demonstrated a shared commitment to collaborative problem-solving and strategic planning for the future of sports in Niger State.
