The Alumni Association of the Federal University of Technology, Minna (FUT Minna), Niger State Chapter, on Tuesday paid a courtesy visit to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Works and Infrastructure Development, Quantity Surveyor Hassan Baba Estu, at his office in Minna.

The delegation was led by the Chairman of the chapter, Mr. Mohammed Adeungula, alongside other members of the association who came to interact with fellow alumni serving in the ministry and to strengthen ties with them.

In his opening remarks, Mr. Adeungula explained the purpose of the visit. “We are here to familiarize ourselves with our members serving in this ministry, strategize on how to support fellow alumni, and also discuss potential ways to assist FUT Minna in terms of infrastructural development and human resources,” he said.

He emphasized that the FUT Minna Alumni Association is committed to building strong partnerships among graduates and working collectively to give back to the university community that produced them.

The Chairman further noted, “Our institution has given us the knowledge and values we are proud of today, and it is our responsibility as alumni to support its continuous growth and development.”

Responding, the Permanent Secretary, QS Hassan Baba Estu, expressed delight at the visit. He said, “FUT Minna is one of the best universities of technology in Nigeria. The institution has consistently produced excellent graduates, and I am proud to be one of them.”

He went on to advise current students of FUT Minna to be diligent in their studies. “I urge the students to take their academics with all seriousness and shun examination malpractice. Hard work and discipline remain the key to success,” he stressed.

QS Estu also commended the lecturers of FUT Minna for their dedication and sacrifice over the years. “I sincerely thank all past and present lecturers for maintaining the standard of the institution. Without their commitment, FUT Minna would not be what it is today,” he added.

The Permanent Secretary pledged to continue doing his best in his service to Niger State and Nigeria at large. “As a student who has passed through this great school, I promise to put in my best wherever I serve. The values I acquired at FUT Minna continue to guide me,” he affirmed.

He expressed gratitude to the delegation for their visit, saying, “I sincerely thank you for coming. This visit is not only an honor but also a reminder of the great community spirit among FUT Minna graduates.”

The discussions also touched on how alumni could play stronger roles in mentorship and professional development for younger graduates. “It is important that we create opportunities for internships, mentorship, and employment for our younger colleagues,” one of the members noted.

The alumni agreed on the need to pool resources together for collaborative projects that would benefit both FUT Minna and its students. This, they said, would not only raise the university’s profile but also strengthen its capacity in technological education.

Also in attendance were the Director of Planning in the ministry, QS Ashiya Alfa, and the Director of Quantity Surveying, QS Solomon Baba. Both officials expressed readiness to work closely with the alumni association to advance common goals.

The visit ended on a positive note with a renewed commitment by all present to sustain FUT Minna’s legacy as a leading institution of technology, while exploring more opportunities for alumni to contribute to the growth of the university, the ministry, and the wider society.
