Army leveraging research, dev’t to bolster operations, says TRADOC Commander

Nigerian Army is leveraging Research, development to bolster operations, the Commander, Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC,) Major General Kevin Alige has revealed.

According to the Army general “The Nigerian Army is leveraging Research and Development (R and D), to bolster its operations.”

Aligbe said that this sequel to the myriad of technological breakthroughs recorded across the globe, all courtesy of R and D.

The Commander spoke in Minna on Tuesday at the opening of the Nigerian Army, Department of Research and Development, Test and Evaluation Conference 2025.

The theme of the conference was ‘Research and Development: A Paradigm for Doctrinal Guidance to Training in Contemporary Operational Environment’.

The commander, who was the Special Guest of Honour said that the conference was an annual event conducted in line with the Nigerian Army’s Forecast of Events 2025.

Aligbe said that the aim of the conference was to conduct training in order to build the capacity and broaden the horizon of the participants on contemporary R and D issues.

According to him, it was also to brainstorm on the new and more efficient ways of serving the Fatherland.

Aligbe said, “We must also acknowledge the outstanding efforts of our troops out there, toiling day and night to keep Nigeria’ safe.

“The event will be used to reflect on field experiences and point new ways forward.”

The commander extolled the theme of the conference, adding that it was carefully selected to guide the Nigerian Army towards the objectives of the conference.

According to him, it was also to discuss latest technologies in R and D, and how they can be utilized in modern warfare to facilitate success in the battlefield.

He said, “The period will also afford us with the opportunity to share knowledge and brainstorm on new frontiers in emerging technologies and ideas.

“They can contribute positively towards the nation’s efforts of addressing Nigeria’s contemporary security challenges.”

Aligbe urged the participants to be serious and renew their commitment to advancing the frontiers of collective knowledge.

According to him, the event will also bolster interagency synergy by broadening the understanding the meaning and application of R and D.

Earlier while welcoming guests, Maj.-Gen. Aminu Shehu-Chinade, described the event as epocha underscoring a new era where technologies were redefining the way to live and work.

He said that R and D were playing pivotal role, saying that advanced climes were prioritizing R and D.

Shehu-Chinade also said that the Armed Forces of Nigeria, especially the Nigerian Army were not lagging behind in this direction.
