The first Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu has visited sokoto state to administer the agenda of Renewed Hope Initiative of President Tinubu’s administration, shared empowerment packages to women and vulnerable in state.
The flag off of food distribution to vulnerable groups under the Renewed Hope Initiative of the President by the first lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu was held at Kasarawa conference centre in Sokoto the state capital.
As contained in a statement by Garba Mohammed, Director Press Affairs Deputy Governor’s office Sokoto State, it was confirmed that, Sokoto Government placed high priority on meeting the yearnings and aspirations of people in various empowerment and poverty alleviation programmes.
Senator Oluremi Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by the wife of the vice president Hajiya Nana Kashim Shetima said, the food outreach scheme which is under the Social Investment of Renewed Hope Initiative was meant to provide food to persons with disabilities and other vulnerable groups across the country in order to support their families.
She said the Initiative has so far distributed food items to 17 states including the Federal Capital Territory.
The first lady also disclosed that, the Initiative plans to launch more economic empowerment programmes this year to support elderly women and persons with disabilities across the country.
In his remarks, Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto stated that, his administration has also rolled out several palliative support measures for vulnerable groups, physically challenged and the needy.
He said thousands of bags of Rice, Maize, Millet and cash assistance have been distributed free to the vulnerable persons
The Governor further said, through the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency SOSMEDA, under Ahmadu Cares Programme, Billions of naira were disbursed to entrepreneurs across the 23 local government areas of the state to promote economic growth and job creation and also cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.
He described the initiative as timely as it will go along way in giving the vulnerable ones a sense of belonging and relief in these trying times.
The Governor who was represented by his Deputy, Alhaji Idris Mohammed Gobir used the opportunity to express appreciation to president Ahmed Bola Tinubu for his commitment to improving the welfare of Nigerians adding that the state is firmly behind him.
Earlier in a welcome address,the state first lady, Dr Fatima Ahmed Aliyu said in order to ensure more women benefit from the gesture,the state government has provided assorted grains for distribution.
These include 1,500 bags of 25kg each of Maize and Millet as well as 1,200 bags of Rice and 10,000 cash assistance to each beneficiary.
Dr Fatima Ahmed Aliyu also enumerated several interventions offered by the first lady Oluremi Tinubu under Renewed Hope Initiative to the state government.
According to her, the interventions have brought succour to many households in the state.
She expressed appreciation to the first lady for her motherly concern and unwavering commitment to issues affecting women,children and vulnerable groups across the country.
