Southwest Legendary Awards 2025 set to Honour Ogun NUJ Scribe, Bunmi Adigun amongst others

The 7th edition of the prestigious Southwest Legendary Awards (SLA) 2025 has been scheduled for Thursday, October 9, 2025, at the JM Royal Haven Event Centre, GRA, Sagamu, Ogun State.

This year’s ceremony, themed “The King’s Edition,” is dedicated to recognizing individuals and organizations that have made outstanding contributions to society, leaving indelible marks in their respective fields.

Among the distinguished honorees is Comrade Bunmi Adigun, Secretary of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ogun State Council, who will be celebrated for his exceptional leadership.

Other notable awardees include Otunba (Dr) Adebola Akindele, Yeye Oba Bolaji Akinmulero, Alhaji Sefiu Alao, Hon. (Dr) Ola Oresanya, actor Adedimeji Lateef, veteran actor Antar Laniyan, the Teniola Foundation, and several other accomplished personalities across different sectors.

The awards are organized by DDMC Events, whose Chief Executive Officer and convener, Prince Taiwo Gbadebo, disclosed the details during a media briefing in Abeokuta on Tuesday, where the distinguished honorees were officially unveiled.

Gbadebo explained that nominees were chosen through an open call process, subjected to rigorous background checks, and vetted based on their achievements. He stressed that the award represents credibility, excellence, and integrity, making it a true benchmark of recognition across the Southwest.

“What makes this award distinct is our unwavering commitment to credibility,” Gbadebo said. “Over the years, the SLA has evolved into an iconic celebration, and the 2025 edition The King’s Edition will be no exception.”

He further assured that the event promises an unforgettable experience, featuring captivating performances, special tributes, networking opportunities, and the presentation of awards to deserving legends.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Hon. Mobolaji Ogunlende, will serve as Chairman of the Occasion, lending more weight to the grand celebration.

A wide range of other awardees will also be honoured, including Justone Homes, Tobi Flecher (Ofada Boy), Princess Adedolapo Adeyemi, Amb. Habeeb Whyte, Hon. Hammed Adebolu Sekere of Lagos, Akinyola Ayoola (Kamo State), Caleb Olayinka, Ayodeji Oluwasola, OTP Kitchen, Wale Rasaq, Chief Adebayo Israel Adigun Olowe, Lawal Feyisara, DJ Glory, and Zainab Agbaogun (Hejiwumi Akewi).

As the red carpet opens at 1 p.m. on October 9, all eyes will be on Sagamu, where the Southwest Legendary Awards 2025 will once again affirm its place as a symbol of excellence, culture, and legacy.
