SECDA extol Socioeconomic contributions of Emele in Rural Economic Development

The Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Mrs. Rubby Emele extolled for contributions to the Socioeconomic, and sustainable development of the rural communities.

This was made known by the National Coordinator of the South East Communities Development Association Cooperative Union, (SECDA), Engr. Isidore Ehochi, while decorating, Hon. Emele as national patron.

According to him, this investiture marks a significant milestone in the group’s pursuit of economic development in communities within the Southeast region.

Engr. Ehochi paid glowing tributes to what he described as her amiable qualities and contributions towards the development of Imo communities, asserting that collaborating with the Commissioner would strengthen the goals of SECDA with its affiliate:

The SECDA Coordinator, hinted of plans to organize South East Regional Conference on Sustainable Economic Development in Owerri, which would feature empowerment of the less privileged and widows, as well as address challenges facing the region, such as insecurity, infrastructure and called for support from the Imo State Government.

He also disclosed that SECDA would collaborate with the newly established South East Development Commission (SEDC), and plans for SECDA Cooperative Loan Programmes, SECDA Cooperative Agriculture, SECDA LGA Unity Soccer Competitions and ICT Based LGA Talents and Skills Promotion.

Contributing, the Chairman, Organizing Committee and former Njaba LGA boss, Dr. Eddy Ikwubuo, noted that SECDA was out to advance the cause of the South East, expressing confidence in the ability of Chief Mrs. Emele to assist achieve the objectives of the association as the national patron.

Responding, Hon. Emele, expressed delight over her choice as the national patron of SECDA and, commended the group for finding her worthy of the honour.

She commended members of the association for their concerns and activities towards economic emancipation, human empowerment and the development of the South East, and promised to contribute her quota.

The commissioner noted that the activities of the group aligned with the programmes of Governor Hope Uzodimma who she stressed has done so much in infrastructural development, human capacity building and remodeled workforce among others.

She added that the governor through his visionary leadership has recreated Imo into a state of possibilities, urging support for the 3R Government.

Pledging support for SECDA targeted goals, Hon. Emele, charged the group to broaden their approach towards addressing the challenges facing the region, stressing on youth empowerment programmes among others.
