Four persons suspected to be thieves of fish from a pond have been nabbed by Operatives of Niger state police command.
The State Police Command confirmed the arrest of four suspects involved in the theft of fish worth N750,000 from a farm in the Chanchaga area of Bosso Local Council.
This was contained in a statement issued by the command’s Image Makers, SP Wasiu Abiodun.
He disclosed that personnel from the Chanchaga Division apprehended the suspects on September 11, 2025, following a complaint about repeated thefts from the farm.
Abiodun explained that on September 8, 2025, two suspects, identified as Hussaini Garba and Umar Danfulani (currently at large), both of Lapai-Gwari, allegedly conspired, trespassed into the farm, and carted away fish valued at about N750,000 over several occasions.
Garba was arrested and, during interrogation, confessed to the crime, naming three alleged receivers of the stolen fish: Ahmed Yusuf of Lapai-Gwari, Ibrahim Musa of Tungan-Goro, and Abdulazeez Bawa of City-Gate.
“The receivers were subsequently arrested, and all suspects have been charged to court for prosecution,” Abiodun stated.
The police reiterated their commitment to tackling theft and criminal activities in the state and urged residents to report suspicious movements to security agencies.
