By: John Bassey, Kebbi.

Kebbi State Governor, Comrade Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu, has described women as a formidable political weapon whose steadfastness and numerical strength at the polls remain decisive factors for victory in elections.

The governor made the assertion on Wednesday in Birnin Kebbi while addressing All Progressives Congress (APC) women leaders from the 225 electoral wards of the state.

Dr. Idris commended the womenfolk for their active participation in politics and the political process, stressing that they remain the vanguard of society in fulfilling civic responsibilities.

He assured them of his administration’s unwavering commitment to the welfare and empowerment of women.

“My administration will not joke with matters concerning women. I shall sustain my empowerment scheme to uplift your wellbeing.

“Women are trustworthy and persevering. This is your government, please maintain the tempo of your support and loyalty.

‘All women of voting age should go and register in the ongoing voter registration, while others should renew their voter’s cards. The registration exercise is of utmost importance in our electoral procedures, without which you cannot vote,” he added.

The State Chairman of the APC, Alhaji Abubakar Kana Zuru, expressed appreciation to the governor for convening the interactive session with the party’s women ward leaders.

He noted that such direct engagement with grassroots women leaders was unprecedented in Kebbi’s political history.

In her remarks, the State APC Women Leader, Hajiya Aisha Gunabi, reaffirmed the loyalty and unflinching support of women across the 225 wards to the incumbent administration of Governor Idris.

Highlighting the importance of strengthening women’s participation, Governor Idris presented the keys of a brand-new Hilux van to Hajiya Gunabi to ease her transportation needs in the discharge of her responsibilities.
