The Zamfara State government announced the dissemination of its 2024/2025 Joint Annual Health Sector Review, a move aimed at bolstering healthcare through data driven strategies.
This was disclosed in a statement by Suleiman Isah, ANIPR information officer
Ministry of Health to journalists in Gusau.
The dissemination meeting, which took place at Garba Nadama Hall, assessed progress in key areas including immunization, malaria control, and maternal and child health.
In her address, Health Commissioner Dr. Nafisa Muhammad Maradun called the review a “cornerstone” of the state’s health sector reforms, noting it was the result of two days of technical sessions.
She thanked partners, including the World Health Organization, for their ongoing support.
The NIPSS Ambassador of Integrity and Leadership Health Ministry Permanent Secretary Malan Bashir Sirajo emphasized the need to turn the review’s recommendations into action plans with measurable results.
He described building a resilient health system as “a marathon, not a sprint,” and stressed that accountability is central to achieving quality healthcare.
WHO State Coordinator Dr. Raji Mukhtar commended the state for keying into the National Sector Wide Approach of health policy planning and implementation which is demonstrated by the joint review process.
He noted that Zamfara conducted its 2024 Annual Operational Planning through the SWAp , calling it another step towards a “One Plan, One Report, One Budget, and One Accountability Framework.” Which WHO is committed to support the Government to implement.
The event concluded with a call for leaders, traditional institutions, partners, and media to collaborate on turning the review’s recommendations into tangible health outcomes.
