Religion preachers to obtain permits in Niger in bid to regulate system

Henceforth, all Islamic scholars and clerics on Da’awah Missioning Niger state are to obtain Da’awah registration forms beginning from Thursday, 4th of September, through to September 30th, 2025.

After collecting the forms, applicants will be required to undergo knowledge test before certificates for Da’awah activities are issued.

This and more forms part of the resolutions reached at the just concluded Peace and Conflict Management/resolution meeting held at the office of the Director General, Niger State Bureau for Religious Affairs, in Minna, the Niger State capital.

The Director-General, Mal. Umar Farouk Abdullahi presided over the meeting.

The focus of the meeting according to a press statement issued by the DG’s Media Aide, Amb. Haruna Mustapha (Dago), was the presentation of Da’awah registration forms and certificates to the Peace and Conflict Management members to tackle the misunderstandings and also prevent misleading preachings across the state.

The Director-General according to the statement further pointed out that this process was intended to promote unity and ensure responsible religious propagation.

It also affirmed that the meeting agreed to establish a committee to oversee the process.

The Director-General assured more commitment to maintaining religious unity and upholds standards in religious outreach efforts throughout the state.
