Members of Niger State House of Assembly Standing Committee on Transportation, has embarked on an oversight function to Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) under its supervision.
Led by its Chairman, Hon.Ahmeed Mohammed Edati, the Committee has so far visited the Ministry of Transportation, Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, and Niger State Transport Authority (NSTA) to ensure effective service delivery and compliance with statutory mandates.
In his opening remark, Hon. Ahmed Mohammed emphasized that the oversight function was part of the Committee’s constitutional mandate, aimed at ensuring that things are done in the right way for the benefit of the people of the State.
He appealed for synergy between the Executive Director, Directors, and Staff of the Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency to cooperate and work together to achieve the agency’s goals and objectives, aligning with the present administration’s New Niger Agenda of improving revenue generation.
Members of the Committee, Hon. Aliyu Sheshi Wushishi (Wushishi), Hon. Isma’ila Zubairu (Rafi), and Hon. Dogari Daje (Munya), urged the Ministry of Transportation to resolve the lingering crisis between the Executive Director and Directors of the Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, to foster a cordial and peaceful working relationship, and enhance the agency’s statutory mandate for improved internally generated revenue.
The Permanent Secretary, Engr. Lucky Barau, appreciated the Committee for the oversight visit, assuring them that the Ministry would interface with the warring parties to put an end to the crisis.
He also solicited for collaboration with the House Standing Committee on Transportation to address some of the challenges faced by the Ministry.
The Executive Director, Niger State Motor Vehicle Administration Agency, Engr. Dr. Danladi Mohammed, thanked the Committee for the visit, assuring them that they would put an end to their differences in the interest of peace and achieving the agency’s goals and mandate.
