Niger Assembly swears in new member, considers Bills to establish Hisbah Board

The newly Elected member from Munya Constituency,of Niger state, Hon. Dagara Daje has officially taken Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Membership as a Member Representing Munya Constituency in the assembly.

The Oath was administered on his by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Barr. Abdulmalik Mohammed Sarkin-Daji, a ceremony that took place at Tuesday’s plenary session of the House.

The Speaker, after administering the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Membership, congratulated and welcomed Hon. Dagara Daje into the 10th Assembly of Niger State.

He assured him of the Assembly’s support, enabling him to succeed and contribute meaningfully to the legislative activities of the House.

The House also engaged in significant legislative business, including the second reading of two private Member Bills.

Niger State Hisbah Board Bill, Sponsored by Hon. Mohammed Abubakar (Ustaz), Member Representing Chanchaga Constituency, the Bill aims to establish the Niger State Hisbah Board.

The proposed Board’s responsibilities include: – Rendering assistance to the Police and other security agencies

– Promoting Islamic values

– Encouraging moral counseling in society

– Encouraging kindness and charitable deeds

– Reconciliation of civil disputes

The Speaker referred the Bill to the House Standing Committee on Religious Affairs to report back to the House in 8 weeks for further legislative action.

Prohibition of Scavengers and Panteka Business Bill Sponsored by Hon. Murtala Adamu Badaru, Member Representing Suleja Constituency, the Bill seeks to proscribe the activities of scavengers and panteka businesses within residential areas in Niger State.The proposed law imposes penalties for non-compliance, including fines and imprisonment.

The Speaker referred the Bill to the House Standing Committees on Environment and Judiciary and Legal Matters to report back to the House for further legislative action.
