Ahead of 2027: Local Government council Chairmen should be aware of banana perils as suspension is the-order of the-day in Niger

Coming next is Madam Alert,” Hajiya Ladidi Rakiya Bawa Bosso whom Legislative Arm of Bosso Local Government Council in Niger State has announced her suspension.

Her suspension is coming just three weeks after the suspension of her Chanchaga local government counterpart, Hon. Aminu Yakubu Ladan.

Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago had swiftly put in place a three member Investigative Committee to probe the suspended Chairman of Chanchaga local government area Hon. Aminu Yakubu Ladan as requested by the Legislative Council of Chanchaga local government.

The three member investigative committee led by Justice Mikhail Abdullahi of Minna High Court number two has since commenced sitting at the IBBUL Guest house in Minna.

The suspension of Bosso local govt chairman, Ladidi Bawa Bosso according to a Communique issued by the legislative council of the local government alleged among other allegations, were financial misappropriation, harassment, intimidation, extortion and other abuse of office.

“Pursuant to the provisions of the Local Government Laws of Niger State, and following due process, the Bosso Local Government Legislative Council, at its duly convened sitting of today, Tuesday, 26th August, 2025, considered a motion on allegations of gross misconduct against the Chairman of Bosso Local Government Council, Hon. Ladidi Rakiya Bawa Bosso.

“Upon deliberation, and in strict compliance with the law, a vote was taken.

“Out of the total membership of the Council, seven (7) Councillors constituting the statutory three-fourths (3/4) majority voted in favour of suspension” the communique stated.

The Communique also alleged that the suspended Chairman severally failed to convene statutory council meetings and other acts of gross misconduct, as well as inconsistent with the oath of office.

The legislative council then after extensive deliberation transmitted the letter of their deliberation to the office of the governor of Niger State requesting the immediate Constitution of a Committee of Investigation to prove the allegations and report its findings within the prescribed period.”

“In line with the Local Government Laws, formal notice of this suspension has been duly transmitted to His Excellency, the Governor of Niger State, for the constitution of a Committee of Investigation to inquire into the allegations and report its findings within the prescribed period.” the communique added.
