The Assistant Inspector of Police, AIG Muhammad Husaini Gumel has commended the effort of the Zamfara state INEC Commissioner Honourable Dr. Mahmuda Isah for conducting the first ever credible supplementary election in Zamfara state
He stated this while addressing journalists at Kasuwar Daji ward during an inspection to the polling units.
Recalled that, on 16th August 2025, the Zamfara state INEC conducted a bye-election for the position of State House of Assembly member for Kaura Namoda South state constituency, among the six wards, two wards, Kasuwar Daji and Sakajiki were declared inconclusive and today, 21st August 2025 was fixed for the supplementary election.
In his words, the AIG, Muhammad Gumel confirmed that the polling units he has so far visited he witnessed a very peaceful atmosphere of election where everyone was given opportunity to exercise their franchise without intimidation.
He lauded the effort of the Zamfara state INEC Commissioner Dr. Mahmuda Isah, the Zamfara state Commissioner of Police and all relevant stakeholders for making the free, fair and credible election exercise a possibility.
Also speaking from Kasuwar Daji Ward was a member representing Gummi/Bukkuyum Federal constituency, Rt. Hon. Suleiman Abubakar Gummi and the state APC publicity secretary Malam Yusuf Idris Gusau who confirmed the peace atmosphere of the supplementary election, commending the effort of INEC and security agencies who left no stone unturned in ensuring a free, fair and credible election process.
At Sakajiki Ward, there was a repeated rumour that the APC youths of the area posted threats of death on the residence voters if they should mistakenly vote for PDP.
A source who pleaded anonymity said, at Sakajiki Ward there is only party that is voting in today’s rerun election, calling on authorities to ensure this threat is addressed before 2027 general elections to avoid unacceptable violence.
