Ogun Police nab two over shocking discovery of Human skulls in Ijebu

Operatives of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested two men in connection with the unlawful possession of three human skulls in the Ijebu axis of the state. The arrests followed a startling discovery made during a routine patrol in the area.

The suspects were apprehended on Monday, August 11, 2025, by Mobile Police Officers from 71 PMF Awa Ijebu. The operation occurred along the Ijebu-Ode/Ibadan Expressway, specifically at the Refugees Camp Junction in Oru Ijebu.

According to police reports, the officers had stopped a motorcycle for a standard stop and search procedure. The bike was being ridden by Kadir Owolabi, who was flagged down for routine checks.

A search of Owolabi’s luggage revealed the shocking content three human skulls concealed inside. The discovery immediately raised suspicion and prompted the officers to take him into custody for further questioning.

Following preliminary interrogation, police investigations led to the arrest of a second suspect, identified as 53-year-old Jamiu Yisa. He was picked up at a location behind the Ijebu Ode Local Government Secretariat.

The Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, Ph.D., has since ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) to take over the case. The directive is to ensure a discreet and thorough investigation into the source of the skulls and the suspects’ motives.

Police spokesperson, CSP Omolola Odutola, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to rooting out crime in all forms within the state. She assured that law enforcement officers would not relent in their efforts to make Ogun State unsafe for criminals.

Odutola also appealed to residents to work closely with the police by sharing timely and accurate information about suspicious activities. She stressed that all shared information would be handled with strict confidentiality to protect informants.
