The Ogun State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has arrested five suspects in connection with a violent robbery, assault, and malicious damage incident involving two tricycle operators along the Lagos–Abeokuta Expressway in the early hours of Monday, August 11, 2025.
The suspects Clement Samuel (30), Clement Monday (23), Olabode Yusuf (36), Sodipo Taiwo (34), and Ogunsakin Yemisi Opeyemi (22) were apprehended during a coordinated patrol led by the Ifo Command Coordinator, Amt. Omotunde Dotun.
According to the Corps, credible intelligence had alerted operatives to an ongoing robbery at Apomu, where two victims, Dada Oluwaseun (29) and Oluwajuwonlo Moshood (24), were violently attacked while operating their tricycles. The suspects reportedly fired a locally-made pistol, shattered the vehicles’ windshields, inflicted severe injuries on the riders, and carted away two mobile phones a Samsung and an iPhone as well as N40,000 in cash.
The coordinated operation led to the arrest of the suspects at Oke-Lemo in Papalanto and Apomu within Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas. The victims later identified Olabode Yusuf and Clement Samuel as the principal attackers, both of whom are said to have a history of criminal activity in the area.
Upon arrest, the suspects described as members of a criminal gang known locally as “customs camp boys” were found with a locally-made pistol, charms, and a jackknife, all believed to have been used in the crime.
Corps Commander Brig. Gen. Alade Adedigba commended the swift response and bravery of the operatives, describing the operation as a major success in the fight against crime in Ogun State. He assured residents of the Corps’ continued commitment to safeguarding communities.
All suspects, along with recovered evidence, have been handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution.
