SON house classic testing equipment, urges stakeholders for quality standardization on product

The Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has urged all industry stakeholders to avoid compromising on product quality, calling for constant quality product checkups as the agency boasts of having high-class and international equipment for all product testing.
This was made during a laboratory facility tour of the Commerce and Industry Correspondent Association of Nigeria (CICAN) during a capacity building training organised by the Standard Organisation of Nigeria.
Mrs Talatu Ettan, who represented the Director General of the agency, said laboratories house high-quality equipment facilities, which can accommodate sustainability and build on credibility that any product could require.
Exclusively, while responding in brief interview she said the primary role of SON is to drive industrialization, facilitate trade and commerce by ensuring that compliance to national standard is made by Manufacturer Association of Nigeria through quality assessment program (SONCAP) for imported goods and service and mandatory for quality assessment program (MANCAP) in other to meet the required industrial standard.
She also acknowledges the robust collaboration between SON and Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN) as the duo is a joint partnership stakeholder that cannot do without each other especially when it comes to the national standardization of products
Meanwhile, during the facility tour, which highlights several equipment usages from different laboratories, including: Lube laboratory, Electrical-electronics laboratory, Food technology laboratory, civil and building laboratory, calibration services trucks, and more.
Manufacturers were urged not to see the requirement as a scrutiny to downcast their product, but rather a platform for improvement, as some industries do check for customer feedback. She concluded.
