New Chairman takes over affairs at Niger state Sports Commission

Niger state has now joined the league of states in the federation adopting “Sports Commission” thereby abolishing the age long Sports Council.

With this development described as a decisive move to bolster Sports development in State, Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago has consequently approved the appointment of Hon. Danjuma Abdul Masu as the pioneer Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission.

This was revealed in a statement issued by Alhaji Abubakar Usman, Secretary to the State Government (SSG).

According to the strategic appointment underscores the administration’s commitment to revitalizing Sports infrastructure, fostering talent development and positioning Niger State as a hub for athletic excellence in the country.

The statement emphasized that the appointment of Hon. Danjuma Abdul Masu aligns with the present administration’s vision to harness the immense Sports potential of Niger State and position the State as a leading hub for Sports excellence in Nigeria.

The statement expressed confidence that the pioneer Chairman possesses the requisite experience, passion, and leadership qualities to transform the Sports landscape of the State.

Governor Bago therefore reiterated that Sports remain a critical pillar of his administration’s strategy to reduce unemployment, promote social cohesion, and elevate Niger State’s profile on the national Sports stage.

The new Chairman of the Niger State Sports Commission represents another milestone in Governor Bago’s transformation agenda for the State, adding that the administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for Sports development across the State.

The Governor expressed optimism that under the new leadership, Niger State will reclaim its position as a leading Sports State in Nigeria and contribute significantly to the country’s sporting achievements at national and international levels.
