The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old murder suspect, Ayomide Oluwadamilare, in connection with the brutal killing of Mr. Kola Adun, a resident of River Valley Estate, Ojodu Berger, whose decomposing body was recently discovered in his residence.

Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Omolola Odutola, said the arrest followed a distress call received on July 7, 2025, around 1:00 p.m. from residents of Mubarak area in Akute, reporting a foul stench from a nearby apartment.

Officers from the Ojodu Abiodun Division immediately responded and proceeded to Ogunmoyero Street, River Valley Estate. Upon gaining entry into the house, they discovered the lifeless body of Mr. Adun on the first floor, bearing multiple stab wounds and surrounded by bloodstains. His Toyota Camry, with registration number LAGOS AAA 193 GC, was missing from the premises.

Suspicion had first been raised a day earlier, July 6, when a friend of the deceased visited to pick him up for church. The house was found locked from the outside, and multiple calls to the victim went unanswered before his phone was eventually switched off. The friend promptly alerted the family and reported the incident to the police.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect, a former driver to the victim, had unlawfully entered the residence on Saturday, July 5, with the intent to rob. He allegedly stabbed Mr. Adun to death before fleeing with his car.

The major breakthrough came when Oluwadamilare attempted to sell the stolen vehicle to a car dealer in Ijede, Ikorodu. The dealer, suspecting foul play, notified the police, which led to the suspect’s arrest at the point of transaction.

The deceased’s remains have been deposited at the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital (OOUTH), Sagamu, for autopsy. Meanwhile, the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
