Abia govt to launch security trust fund, intensifies war against cult groups

Abia state government will this week launch Abia security trust fund and equally intensify war against cult groups in the state.

Abia state commissioner for information Prince okey kanu, disclosed this while briefing newsmen on the outcome of this week’s State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Alex Otti, at the Government House Umuahia on Monday evening.

Prince okey said that the launch of Abia security trust fund is an initiative that is designed to build a safer Abia and are equally committed to fight cultism in the state to standstill.

“This government since it’s inception has taken the security of lives and property of Abia very seriously, so this initiative will take the implementation of the state government security to higher pedestal.”

He equally disclosed that Abia State Government has taken decision against the growing incidences of cult related activities and harassment of innocent citizens across the state.

“To this end, the state government has directed security agencies in the state to swing into action and arrest the urgly development.

“As a responsible government, this administration will spread no efforts assuring that the state is rid of drug activities,” Prince Kanu stated.

Prince Kanu, also disclosed that the state government will embark on major moves to boost the massive transformative style of governance Abians have enjoyed since the emergence of Governor Alex Otti, adding that this week the government will hold this significant events.

“This events includes the launching of Aba Export Growth lab and the ground breaking ceremony of the Abia Medical city project,” Kanu stated.

The Commissioner equally disclosed that the state government has commenced the payment of staff of Ogbonnaya Onu Polytechnic who were disengaged between 2018 and 2022, following the Governor’s approval in that regard.

“So far, 249 of such staff have been paid. This is another promise made and kept by His Excellency Dr. Alex Otti. You will recall that these are names that we inherited from the previous government,” Prince Kanu stated.

Prince Kanu also made it public that the renovation works at Abia State College of Education Technical (ASCETA) are ongoing and are at a commendable pace at that.

He noted that other Projects such as the college library, the school of vocational education block, the college auditorium, students’ hostels, and school of technical education are all progressing very well.

Prince Kanu equally announced that Governor Alex Otti had also received in audience a 15 year old Abia -born Miss Grace John Nkpa, who won a highly contested TechGirls 2025 contest to represent the state in the United States of America

The Information Commissioner noted that Miss Grace Nkpa’s performance speaks volume of the standard of education in the state, adding that Governor Otti has graciously offered to support her trip to the United States of America with the sum of five thousand US Dollars.
