The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti,has commended, Mayor lucky Igbokwe, the Chief Executive Officer of Don media group, for investing in the new Abia.
Abia state Governor gave this commendation over the weekend while unveiling two Radio stations, “Don FM radio and Ikoro FM radio,” established by Don media group in Umuawa Alocha in Umuahia North LGA, Abia state.
Governor Otti, who was represented by his SSA on Special Duties, Dr. George Chidozie, said that his infrastructural revolution and provision of good business environment in the state has started yielding desire fruits and thanked the CEO Don media group for believing in his dream of a new Abia.
He said that what, Mayor lucky Igbokwe did is in line with what a true Igbo man will do, by going to his village to establish an industry for the benefit of his people.
He called on the people to protect the Radio stations for their own good as most of the villagers will earn their living from the Radio stations.
Earlier in his remarks before the unveiling of the Radio stations, Mayor lucky Igbokwe,(aka Don Lulu) and the United Nations Mayor of Peace Ambassador, said that “Don media group mission and vision is to be the leading grassroots driven broadcast hub in the South East, where tradition meets technology and our identity is amplified not erased.
“Our mission is to train and empowered our youth in media entertainment, foster dialogue and peace.Broadcast honest community centered news and most importantly preserve and promote Igbo culture”, Igbokwe said.
In his goodwill message during the launching of the Radio stations, David Adeleke(aka Davido) who led other Prominent musicians to entertain Abia youths at Umuahia Township stadium as part of the events put together by Don media group to mark the launching of the Radio stations, said that his presence at the launch of the stations is not only for entertainment, but to show solidarity with local radio, grassroots voices and the power of African storytelling.
The unveiling of the two radio grassroots driven broadcast stations witness display of the people’s culture and attracted who is who in entertainment and media industry, including Nigeria former Inspector General of Police Mike Okiro.
