The Deputy Governor of Ekiti State, Her Excellency, Chief (Mrs.) Monisade Afuye, today unveiled the newly reconstructed ultra-modern gate of the Ikere Local Government Secretariat, a landmark project completed under the leadership of the Executive Chairman, Hon. (Sqn. Ldr. Rtd.) Olu Egbejoda Adamolekun, aimed at giving the council secretariat a renewed and dignified outlook.
The brief but symbolic ceremony, held at the entrance of the Secretariat Complex, drew dignitaries, community leaders, civil servants, party faithful, and residents who came to witness another bold stride in local governance and infrastructure renewal under the Adamolekun-led administration.
In his remarks, Chairman Adamolekun expressed profound appreciation to the Deputy Governor for honouring the occasion, describing the project as a symbol of renewed identity and civic pride for the people of Ikere.
“Today’s event is a memorable one as we commission the newly constructed ultra-modern gate of this Local Government and unveil other notable community-driven projects and achievements of this administration.”
He added that the unveiling was not just about infrastructure or aesthetics but a statement to the world that a new Ikere is emerging, one rooted in purpose, service delivery, and people-first governance.
“This gate has been there since 1999. We gave it a facelift,” he stated, knocking his critics. “What you see here today is only a glimpse of the silent transformation taking place across the local government.”
Highlighting some of the administration’s notable projects, Adamolekun mentioned the multi-million naira high-powered solar streetlights from Ikere Roundabout to Sawmill Drivers’ Garage along Ado Road, the ongoing rehabilitation of the iconic Ikere Roundabout Decorative Water Fountain, and the construction of a hostel facility, now over 80 percent completed at BUOESTI, among others.
He further appreciated Governor Biodun Oyebanji, noting that without his unflinching support, none of these achievements would have been possible. He also lauded the commitment of his team, party leaders, traditional institutions, and the good people of Ikere for their cooperation and support.
The Chairman also stressed that he remains focused on delivering quality governance and won’t be distracted by criticisms. “I don’t mind what critics are saying. We are here to serve the people, and more developmental projects are still on the way,” he assured.
The Deputy Governor, who was ably represented by Hon. Victor Adeniyi, Deputy Chief of Staff in the Office of the Deputy Governor, hailed the initiative and described Hon. Adamolekun as a silent achiever whose developmental footprints are speaking loudly across the local government. He urged the Chairman to continue with the momentum.
Also speaking at the event, Engr. Bimbo Ogundipe, one of the foremost APC leaders in Ikere, and the APC Local Government Chairman, Pastor Kayode Oyebode, praised the Chairman’s performance. They both stated that the APC government remains the best choice for the people and rallied support for BAO and MCA’s second term in office.
