Suspected armed robbers invade IBBU Lapai, kill one student

Suspected armed robbers have killed a student of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University Lapai during an attack on students lodge in Niger state.
The incident occurred in the early hours of Monday when the suspects stormed the lodge around 2:30am at Ndakitabu area via Lapai opposite the main gate of the institution.
According to findings, the student simply identified as Jafar a 300 level, Education department, Faculty of Arts who resumed late hours of Sunday was stabbed on the neck during the attack and he was rushed to general hospital Lapai where he was later confirmed dead.
Niger State Command Police Image Maker, SP Wasiu Abiodun confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Minna, said that as a result of attack some students have barricaded Agaie-Lapai road, protesting against this incident.
SP Abiodun revealed that tactical teams of the Command have been dispatched to Lapai to ensure that normalcy is restored, while investigation into the incident has commenced.
He further assured that Commissioner of Police have directed that the perpetrators of this heinous crime must be arrested and brought to book.
It was further gathered that one of the suspected armed robbers who killed the only male child of his parents was also reportedly killed by the vigilantes and community volunteers during the incident.
