President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has commended Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, for successfully completing and delivering 17 vital infrastructure projects in the FCT.
In a press statement from Rabi Umar Musa, the Assistant Director Press, Office of the Minister, over the weekend, the commendation was made during the commissioning of the 15-kilometer Outer Southern Expressway (OSEX) left-hand service carriageway, stretching from Ring Road I to Wasa Junction in Abuja.
Tinubu described the OSEX as Abuja’s crucial transport backbone, emphasizing its role in connecting the city center to rapidly expanding districts such as Apo, Lokogoma, Gudu, Wumba, and Wasa, thereby significantly enhancing urban mobility. He praised Wike’s unwavering commitment to providing essential infrastructure that positively impacts the lives of FCT residents.
The President commended the impressive quality of work on the OSEX and acknowledged Wike’s efforts to relocate the Apo Mechanic Village traders. He expressed confidence that the exercise would be brought to a successful conclusion and urged FCT residents to protect the new infrastructure.
Wike expressed gratitude for Tinubu’s personal commitment and presence at the commissioning of completed projects in the FCT. He reaffirmed the FCT Administration’s dedication to completing all ongoing projects in line with the President’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
The OSEX road project has already improved connectivity within the FCT, allowing easier access from Wasa to Takushara and Ketti. Wike pledged to personally supervise and ensure the relocation of the Apo Mechanic Village along the road corridor.
Wike defended the rehabilitation of the International Conference Centre and its renaming after the President, asserting that the FCTA aims for the best for the country and that President Tinubu demonstrated strong leadership in ensuring its restoration.
Minister of State, FCT, Dr. Mariya Mahmoud, appreciated President Tinubu for his commitment to infrastructure development and support for the FCT Administration. She lauded Wike’s visionary leadership style, which has seen the delivery of numerous infrastructure projects in the nation’s capital.
Acting Executive Secretary of the FCDA, Engr. Richard Yunana Dauda, provided a technical overview of the project, stating that the 15km Left-hand Service Carriageway of the OSEX was awarded to CGC Nigeria Limited, with work commencing in November last year. The Managing Director of CGC Nigeria Limited assured that the highest quality standards were maintained throughout the project’s delivery.
