A leading member of the opposition, former Governor of Anambra state and the 2023 Presidential candidate of Labour Party (LP), Mr. Peter Obi was at the government house, Minna, Niger state, yesterday.
Peter Obi who was received on arrival at Government House, Minna by the state Acting Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba expressed sympathy to the government and people of Niger state over the loss of 153 souls in the flash flood that ravaged Mokwa communities a week ago.
Former Governor Peter Obi who donated N20 million to the victims prayed for the repose of the souls of the victims and for God to grant their families the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Obi also told the Acting Governor of his plans to personally visit Mokwa on a later date to meet one-on-one with the victims in this their moments of grief.
Responding, the Acting Governor who received Peter Obi on behalf of the state Governor, Hon. Mohammed Umar Bago thanked the former Anambra state Governor for supporting the distressed Mokwa flood victims.
The Governor who also received the donation on behalf of the government and people of Niger state commended Peter Obi for his show of kindness and love for humanity, especially in support of victims of natural disasters.
