The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB) has been ranked the second-best performing federal university in Nigeria for graduate employability, according to the 2025 Nigeria University Rankings.
The recognition is based on the Industry Metric, which evaluates essential employability indicators, including employer reputation, industry-sponsored research income, and internship placements. This milestone reflects FUNAAB’s strategic focus on bridging the gap between academic learning and industry expectations.
In response to the growing demand for job-ready graduates in a market that absorbs over a million new entrants each year, FUNAAB has reinforced its commitment to producing highly employable graduates. The University has achieved this through robust industry partnerships, curriculum revisions driven by employer feedback, increased internship opportunities, and expanded research collaborations with the private sector.
A key driver of this success is the establishment of the Career Services and Linkages Unit (CSLU), a product of the University’s Benchmarking and Employability Committee. This unit has been instrumental in enhancing career readiness among students and strengthening the University’s employability profile.
This latest achievement adds to FUNAAB’s impressive track record. The University was recently named the Best University of Agriculture in Africa and ranked 7th globally in the 2024 Times Higher Education World University Rankings. It also claimed the top spot in Nigeria for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 2: Zero Hunger.
Reacting to the news, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Babatunde Kehinde, congratulated staff, students, and the entire University community. He emphasized the need for continued dedication and innovation, reaffirming FUNAAB’s commitment to exceeding its current accomplishments.
