A total of 428 intending pilgrims from Ogun State departed Nigeria on Sunday for the 2025 Hajj pilgrimage. The group left from Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at exactly 4:00 p.m., en route to the holy city of Medina, Saudi Arabia.
Before their departure, the Ogun State Amirul Hajj, Alhaji Samsudeen Apelogun, addressed the pilgrims, urging them to uphold discipline, integrity, and exemplary conduct. He reminded them that they carry the dual responsibility of representing both Ogun State and the Islamic faith on a global stage.
“As you embark on this sacred journey, remember that you are ambassadors of Islam and Nigeria. Do not carry any prohibited items, avoid actions that may tarnish the country’s image, and comply with the travel cash limit,” Apelogun advised.
He further stressed the need for strict adherence to the guidance of Muslim welfare officials throughout the pilgrimage, ensuring a smooth and spiritually enriching experience.
“May your journey be safe and fulfilling, and may you return with renewed spiritual strength,” he concluded.
