In a grand ceremony held in Abeokuta, the Publisher of Standard Times Newspaper and 32 other distinguished individuals were officially inducted into the prestigious Abeokuta Sports Club. The event marked a significant moment as the 33 new members, collectively referred to as “T33,” were formally welcomed into the club’s fold.

The induction was graced by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, who also serves as the Grand Patron of the club. In his address, the Alake expressed appreciation to Chief Kessington Adebutu for his unwavering support of the club, stating, “Adebutu has truly done a lot for the Abeokuta Sports Club.” He also noted that both he and Adebutu share membership in three different elite clubs across Nigeria.

Highlighting the symbolic moment of the ceremony, the Alake watched as the candles of the inductees were lit—signifying their full initiation into the club’s community and values. The traditional rite marked the beginning of their membership journey.

The induction was also honored by the presence of other notable monarchs including the Oba of Orile Imo and the Olowu of Owu, Oba Matemilola, further lending prestige to the event.

As it has been his custom, the Alake maintained his tradition of personally attending and overseeing all inductions, reinforcing his commitment to the club and its growth.
