Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State has returned to Port Harcourt following a two-week vacation in Germany.
He arrived at the international wing of the Port Harcourt International Airport in Omagwa around 7 PM on Friday.
A circulating video clip shows the Governor being welcomed by some of his aides upon arrival.
He was immediately ushered into a waiting SUV, which quickly departed the airport.
Although Governor Fubara was said to have been in Germany, sources indicate he also held a private meeting with President Bola Tinubu in London during the trip.
The meeting comes amid ongoing political tension in Rivers State.
President Tinubu recently suspended Governor Fubara, his deputy Prof. Ngozi Odu, and members of the State House of Assembly, citing instability caused by militant attacks on oil infrastructure.
The President also referenced the ongoing political rift between Fubara and 27 state lawmakers, allegedly influenced by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.
