At the 27th Executive Council meeting held on April 28, 2025, the government allocated ₦1.2 billion for the comprehensive upgrade of the School for Islamic Studies (SIS) in Dawakin Tofa, Tofa, and Ungogo Local Government Areas.

Another N327 million was approved to settle outstanding liabilities in the education sector. In a significant boost to human capital development, the Council endorsed the release of ₦5.38 billion for the continuation of the state’s foreign scholarship scheme and the commencement of a new domestic scholarship program for indigent students.

According to the statement issued by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, the governor’s spokesperson, these interventions form part of the state’s long-term agenda to restore the glory of the education system and prepare Kano’s youth for the future.

“This investment reflects Governor Yusuf’s vision of creating equal educational opportunities and global competitiveness for our students,” the statement read.
