Remo Stars, based in Ogun State, have been crowned champions of the 2024/25 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
Led by coach Daniel Ogunmodede, the team clinched their first-ever NPFL title with a gritty 1–0 win over Niger Tornadoes at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne on Sunday.
In a tightly contested encounter filled with missed opportunities, Olamilekan Adedayo emerged as the match-winner, netting the decisive goal in the 84th minute to ignite jubilant scenes among the home supporters.
This triumph places Remo Stars in the history books as the first privately owned club to claim the NPFL crown since Udoji United’s success back in 1996.
Their victory also ends a long wait for the South West region, marking the first time a club from the zone has lifted the NPFL trophy since the now-defunct Julius Berger FC won it two decades ago.
The Ikenne-based side currently top the league standings with 68 points from 35 matches, maintaining a commanding 10-point advantage over second-placed Rivers United, who have amassed 58 points from the same number of games.
With three fixtures left to play, Remo Stars’ victory has mathematically sealed their championship triumph, capping off a remarkable season under Ogunmodede’s guidance.
