Football followers of Niger state darling team have confirmed that it was an agonizing end to the Match Day 34 encounter between Niger Tornadoes and Bayelsa United at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna.
The Ikon Allah Boys dominated the first half proceedings and were duly rewarded with a penalty after Papa Daniel’s incisive pass into the box led to a scramble.
However Bayelsa United defender Issah Yusuf was spotted to have punched the ball, which was goal-bound, and got sent off by the AR for the punishable offence.
Williams Sunday picked up the ball and slotted home in the 38th minute for his fourth goal of the season, giving his team an advantage heading into the half-time break.
However, the second half unfolded differently, as one would think the Ikon Allah Boys would use the numerical advantage to cause more havoc on their opponents, but the reverse was the case.
The hosts blew away several scoring opportunities, allowing the visitors to grow in confidence and get back into the game.
Rabiu Abdullahi seized on Sunday Akinmoladun’s mistake to equalize for his team with barely 10 minutes from time, clinically drawing level and salvaging a point for the Prosperity Boys, as the Ikon Allah Boys failed to grab the winning goal despite several opportunities.
The result has put the Ikon Allah Boys in a precarious situation, occupying 14th position on the log and needing positive results in the upcoming games to be able to salvage their NPFL status.
