No Hiding Place For A Same Sex Man

The long arms of the law caught up with a young man who identified himself as Uche Oji in the town of Aba, Abia State, when the police stormed the premises of City Global Hotel located at Ekenna Avenue, Aba, Abia State. On Friday, the 28th of March 2025 at about 9:00 hours in the evening.

A team of the Abia State Police Command on arriving at the scene found Uche and another male partner (name withheld) ‘locked in kissing and while undressed’ in one of the ‘short time’ room section of the Hotel. One wonders what drive men into such practices. Is it joblessness? Can any reasonable basis exist for the conduct of the type that Uche has purportedly gotten himself entangled? Many questions begging for answers, in the case of Uche, it was learnt he graduated from the university some four years ago and has not been able to secure full time employment.

It is arguable that there are many graduates like him in the country roaming the streets without jobs. who do not indulge in practices like the one Uche has been allegedly accused of When asked if this was the first time he would indulge in the prohibited, forbidden acts of same sex relationships, Uche mentioned one Chijioke Onwuamegbu, an igbo man too from Amaigbo village in Imo State, whom he admitted was one of his early same sex partners, who has since left Nigeria for studies in Canada.

The police public relation’s officer,Chioma Maureen when contacted, confirmed the arrest, adding that the law will bring to book those who conduct themselves in ways that tend to corrupt and erode morals in society.

He added that the same sex practices offence is contained in the Nigeria Criminal Code Act, CAP. 77 and applies to all anywhere in her territory.
