Iyoriobhe Gladys flees after brutal abuse from husband, threatens to burn down family house

Benin City residents are gripped by fear following chilling threats from a man accused of violently assaulting his pregnant wife, causing her to lose her baby.

Police investigations confirm that Mrs. Iyoriobhe Gladys suffered severe domestic abuse at the hands of her husband, Joseph Dami, on March 4, 2022. The attack, which resulted in a miscarriage, led to her hospitalization at Central Hospital, Benin City.

Fearing for her life, Mrs. Gladys later escaped to the unknown destination, but her absence has only escalated the situation for her family members, who are now being targeted by her enraged husband.

On October 10, 2024, Mr. Dami allegedly stormed the home of Mrs. Gladys’ brother in Benin City, issuing terrifying threats. He reportedly demanded that the family reveal her whereabouts, declaring that she was his “property” and could not hide from him forever.

In a shocking claim, he boasted of being a leader in the Eyae secret cult, warning that he would send his men to burn down the house and harm everyone inside if his demands were not met. He also accused his wife of infidelity with another woman, vowing to end her life if he ever found her.

Following these threats, Mrs. Gladys’ brother and his children have gone into hiding, fearing for their safety. Authorities have since escalated the case, investigating criminal intimidation, conspiracy to commit arson, and potential cult-related activities.

Security has been heightened around the family’s home, with increased patrols to prevent any attack from Mr. Dami or his alleged cult associates.

Law enforcement agencies, including the Edo State Police Command and Ikpoba Hill Area Command, are actively investigating Mr. Dami’s claimed cult ties and have recommended his immediate arrest. Legal proceedings for restraining orders and protective measures for the affected family members are also underway.

Authorities urge the public to remain vigilant and report any information that could lead to Mr. Dami’s arrest, as they work to ensure justice and prevent further violence.
