Thursday, January 23, 2025, will remain fresh in the memory of the family of one Mr. Onyemachi Anueyiagu Victory from Duruoka Amucha in Njaba Iga local government area of Imo State, a former commander of special force (SF), now at large over his involvement in homosexuality activities.

On that fateful day, the youths of the community numbering over 30, the vigilante group, and some security outfits had stormed his family house and barged into the compound as early as 6:00am in search of Mr. Onyemachi Anueyiagu Victory.

The raid was aimed at fishing him out to face the wrath of the law over the heinous act that led to the death of his partner, Mr. Chinedu Mark.

According to a family source, Mr. Onyemachi has gone into hiding since he escaped lynching on the 25th of November 2023, and his whereabouts are unknown to us.

According to a source, Mr. Onyemachi Anueyiagu Victory is a notorious gay from his secondary school days.

On several occasions Mr. Onyemachi and Mark were caught in the acts of homosexuality and beaten to a stupor by the vigilante groups and the youth of his community, still, they continued to indulge in gay activities but fate ran out them with a tip-off by a hotel manager of Grando Hotel, Amucha, on November 25, 2023, where Onyemachi hid with his gay partner Chinedu Mark to practice homosexuality.

The Community people swooped on the duo and in an attempt to arrest them from the hotel, Onyemachi jumped out from the hotel room’s window and escaped while his partner Chinedu Mark could not escape, was beaten again into a stupor by the vigilante group and the youth of the community before being handed over to the police but unfortunately, Chinedu couldn’t survive as a result of injury he sustained from the beating.

Chinedu’s family members are in agony since then calling for Mr. Onyemachi to be brought to book. Their wish is to see him dead like their son. It’s in this regard that the youth, on Thursday, 23rd January 2025, once again stormed his family house and destroyed his house and other properties demanding his head.

The act of same-sex relationships is regarded as sacrilege in all villages in Nigeria, including Imo state. The degree of penalty differs from one community to another but has dire consequences.

Duruoka Amucha community in Njaba Iga frowns against that and stipulates stringent punishment on persons found wanting. It imposes punishments ranging from heavy fines for cattle to appease the gods of the land to denial of the right to inheritance and the right to partake of some community benefits.

Nigeria’s same-sex marriage (prohibition) Act (SSMPA) prohibits public display of affection between same-sex individuals and restricts the work of organizations defending gay people and their rights.

Mr. Onyemachi has disappeared into thin air to escape prosecution and was declared wanted by the police.

He is said to have also been banished from his community as a result of his involvement in this heinous act.

According to the President General of DURUOKA AMUCHA COMMUNITY, since Onyemachi Anueyiagu Victory has absconded and refused to report to the police or the youth to face his punishment as our custom demands, he is hereby banished, ostracized, and in essence, his dignity of DURUOKA AMUCHA is hereby revoked, his right, inheritance and any other benefits accruing to him as a son of DURUOKA AMUCHA is hereby revoked, stripes and terminated permanently.

But the question is how will our land be cleansed in the absence of Onyemachi? The gods required his presence for the internal cleansing to be carried out. That’s why the youth and the vigilante group have been mandated to fish him out, irrespective of the cost. His family will continue to receive threats until he is produced.

He has been targeted severely by the security agencies for his gay activities. The security agencies are still in search of him.

According to the police, Mr. Onyemachi Anueyiagu Victory, a former commander in special force (SF), is dark in complexion; he is from Duruoka Amucha in Njaba Iga local Government area of Imo state, Nigeria. He speaks English and Igbo fluently, and He was last seen on November 2023 around the Douglas axis in Owerri. A worthy ransom of 5 million naira awaits anybody with useful information that will lead to his arrest.
