Niger Tornadoes  Thrashed Sunshine Stars 4-1

The Sunshine football club of Akure, otherwise known as the Owens boys, came, saw but could not survive defeat as their host, Niger Tornadoes, the Ikoh Allah boys, pumped ouroals within 27th minutes to pocket the three points at stake.

Majin Mohammed Tutor produced a scintillating half display, leaving Sunshine Stars reeling at the Bako Kontagora Stadium, the  NPFL MD17 tie.

The homers dominated right from the blast of the Whistle for the match to the start, with Enerst Onyeka leading the foray of damage against the visitors.

Dabai and Ernest then combined again for the second goal; Daba Iwho wwasft unmarkuunmarkedceived the ball; c; controcontroldartly curled it into the net for his first NPFL gal to double our lead.

Ernest made his third goal contribution in the game in a matter of 13 minutes when he set up and rushed Joseph Godstim, who made no mistake to slot home for his 5th goal of this season, leaving Sunshine Stars stunned. 

The fourth goal arrived just before the half-hour mark, 27th minute on the clock, resulting from a corner kick. Ifeanyi Okechukwu got the ball and found Abba Khalid, who powered a shot that beat Emmanuel Ofori in goal for the visitors.

The two teams retired for a half-time break as they held the lead comfortably.

It was a quick action at the start of the second half. Enerst had a chance to double his lead, but the goalkeeper produced a good save to deny him, and in a quick transition as the visitors turned from defending to attacking, Joshua Enaholo was tested but spectacularly denied the visitors a scoring opportunity.

The Owena Whales would later pull one back through Sodiq Ibrahim’s 71st minute on the clock, but victory was already ascertained for Majin Mohammed’s side as Sodiq’s goal was merely a consolation.

Tornadoes Technical Adviser, Majin Mohammed. Declared, “The victory was a result of collective efforts from the management, coaches, and the players.”

“The first stanza is gradually winding off and we need to put our acts together to win our home matches to consolidate our position on the league table.”

“We needed to bring some changes in the team because some players have been overplayed and needed rest. That necessitated the change in our lineup today to give others the opportunity, and you can see that the players want to take advantage to cement a place in the team.”

“Sunshine Stars are a good side; the testament is the draw in Aba against Enyimba, and knowing well that they will come here with the same mentality, we decided to approach the game with all seriousness, and the result is what you just saw.”

Enerst Onyeka was awarded best player of the game for his outstanding contributions, scoring a goal and providing two assists.
