Man alleges threat to life over N200m farmland

A middle aged man, Tosin Clement Ayeni has raised alarm over constant attacks and threat to life allegedly from his stepmother, one Mrs Florence Ayeni who has threatened to wipe out his entire family

He said that at the centre of this crisis is 20 hectares of cocoa farm land valued at over N200m which his late father instructed must be inherited by the first grandson of the family.

Tosin said that his running battle with his stepmother who is a very strong politician in Ekiti State started about two years ago when she got to know that the scan report said that his wife who was pregnant with the second child was carrying a male child.

He explained that Mrs Ayeni had flared up over this report saying that she won’t be alive and allow the 20 hectares of land now being sold N670,000 per plot to be inherited by the unborn son who happened to be the first grandson of my late father after his eventual delivery

Tosin said that “Whereas the instruction as left by my late father which every family member is quite aware of is that this choice property should be given to his first grandson.

“My stepmother has three children but none of them has given birth to male children, they have all given birth to girls. My first born too is a girl while my second born is a boy and the first grandson of the family, so, naturally, the choice property belong to me through my son”.

The traumatised father of two however said that his stepmother has vowed to wipe out his family over this inheritance sending hoodlums to attack them, destroying their businesses and making life miserable for them.

He said that there was even a time Mrs Ayeni secretly offered to give his wife N2m to get rid of the pregnancy.

Tosin added that it was in the midst of all of these travails that his pregnant wife who nearly lost the pregnancy left the country last year.

He said that “The following day my wife travelled out of the country, some unknown persons came to ransack my house and few days after, my farm attendants told me that two strange men came to ask of me in my farm and ever since then, I have been changing locations and careful with my movements”

Speaking from his hideout, Tosin said he however thought that his stepmother had listened to the counsel and advice of the family members to let peace reign until three armed men invaded his residence at Aruna Village, Ibadan about two weeks ago.

He said “but for my neighbours who had to call on our local security men when they were hearing gunshot around my residence, I would have been brutally killed alongside my daughter. I was just lucky to escape the attack, though, my daughter and I sustained injuries. Two of our local security personnel almost lost their lives. They are currently receiving medical care at an hospital”.

Tosin revealed that he knew the attack was from his stepmother because he had constantly after the incident been receiving anonymous calls telling him that he would not be that lucky next time and that it is either he produces his wife and the newly born son or else he would pay with his life.

Asked why he hasn’t involved the police, the business man said that “We have done that, we have reported her to the police but nothing tangible has been done.

“Reliable sources among the security agencies have always told me that my stepmother is quite influential being a very strong politician that is highly connected to the corridor of power and that accounted for how she’s been regarded as untouchable”.

Tosin said that “I have since the invasion of my residence been living in great fear, I can no longer attend to my business, I have equally stopped my daughter from going to school,

“I have been moving from one place to another yet they keep telling me through anonymous calls that my days are numbered except I produce my wife and my son and that they are monitoring my movements and will soon catch up with me anywhere in Nigeria”.
