Suspect In High-profile Conspiracy, murder Case Remains At Large As Trial Continues

The case involving the murder of Ms. Karimot Awoyemi, a resident of GRA, Shagamu, Ogun State, remains an unsolved mystery as the primary suspect, Ms. Rasaq
Abimbola Racheal continues to evade law enforcement.

Despite an ongoing investigation and a standing warrant for her arrest, security forces have yet to locate Ms. Racheal, who has been charged with conspiracy and murder alongside unidentified accomplices.

This case first came to light after a report was filed on February 17, 2024, alleging Ms.

Rachael’s involvement in the murder of Ms. Awoyemi. According to police reports,
the two women were affiliated with a group that claimed to support women’s
liberation but allegedly operated as an underground LGBTQ society in violation of
Nigeria’s Criminal Code. Authorities believe that tensions within the group, stemming from disagreements over certain practices, may have led to the fatal confrontation on December 31, 2023.

The police investigation, led by ASP John Chukwunonzo, included attempts to engage
the suspect and her associates, but so far, all efforts to locate Ms. Racheal have been
unsuccessful. Investigators have suggested that she may be in hiding to avoid
prosecution, further complicating the case.

The Oyo State Police Department has issued a formal statement emphasizing that Ms.
Rachael is being sought for questioning in connection with the case. They also noted
that her failure to comply with the law would constitute a violation, carrying serious legal consequences under the Nigerian Criminal Code.

The case, still pending in court, has captivated the public due to its controversial aspects and the involvement of an alleged underground society. As authorities intensify their search for Ms. Racheal, the legal proceedings are expected to continue, with the victim’s family and the public seeking justice for Ms. Awoyemi.
