In a landmark achievement for Nigerian architecture, Jeremy Iyoha, a leading architect at Orangeline Limited, has been awarded the Innovation Design Excellence Award (IDEA) for his visionary work on the Polo View residential project.
This prestigious recognition was presented during the 2024 edition of Design Week Lagos, Nigeria’s foremost platform for showcasing design innovation across Africa.
The Polo View project first gained industry attention in 2020, when it was nominated by the Africa Design Excellence Awards (ADEA) at the Design Week Lagos 2020 (DWL) as one of the top architectural designs in Nigeria.
Competing alongside notable firms such as PlayinArchitecture, Urbancribs, and Refine Homes, the design stood out for its unique conceptual approach and contextual relevance.
However, at the time, the project was still in its developmental stages, with its structural frame only reaching full completion in late 2023.
It was during its much-anticipated public unveiling at Design Week Lagos 2023 that Polo View captured the attention of the global design community.
The project’s integration of sustainable materials, energy-efficient systems, and a modern, context-sensitive aesthetic aligned perfectly with the values promoted by the IDEA platform.
Following a rigorous evaluation by the IDEA jury, the project was selected in 2024 as a recipient of the Award of Excellence, a distinction reserved for designs that push the boundaries of innovation and ecological responsibility.
“This recognition speaks not only to design excellence but to the future of sustainable architecture in Africa.
“Polo View represents our commitment at Orangeline to creating designs that are not just beautiful, but responsible and forward-thinking, “said Jeremy Iyoha in his letter of acceptance speech at the awards ceremony.
The IDEA Award not only affirms Polo View as a blueprint for future-facing urban residential design in West Africa, but it also marks a significant professional milestone for Jeremy Iyoha. His leadership in crafting a structure that harmonizes ecological consciousness, aesthetic refinement, and functional efficiency has solidified his place among the continent’s top design innovators.
For Orangeline Limited, the award reaffirms the firm’s dedication to pioneering architecture that meets the evolving needs of urban communities, while setting a new standard for sustainable development in Nigeria and beyond.
