A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Agodi, Ibadan, Oyo State had remand one Olawale Oladayo (M) in prison for sex related offences, he was involved in homosexual activities which is a Strict offense against the Constitution at Nigeria under section 5(2) of the Same Sex Marriage Act (Prohibition) 2013.
Olawale was arrested following a lead from local vigilantes and video footage of Olawale and his partner Jamiu Alli who is still at large and wanted by the police.
This is the 2nd time he will be arranged and remanded in prison. The prosecutor, Ola Afolabi, informed the court that the defendant committed the offence on 25th July 2023, Olawale was accused of escaping from police custody on his way to the court in Janaury 2024.
He was also alleged to initiate young boys into homosexual activities. Olawale’s counsel moved the motion of bail terms which was earlier denied by the court and was denied again. After the argument from both parties the case was adjourned.
