Man, 31, docked over alleged stealing, malicious damage
A 31-year-old man, Ike Stanley on Monday appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for allegedly stealing soap worth N750,000 and damaging of property.
Stanley whose address was not provided, is facing two counts of stealing and malicious damage.
He pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, ASP Clément Okuoimose, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Jan.19 at Trade Fair Complex, Lagos..
Okuoimose said the defendant stole eight cartons of soap valued at N750,000 belonging to the complainant, Kingsley Ugwu.
He said Stanley also damaged the complainant’s Scania truck with registration number JJJ 857 XE and three truck tyres valued at N600,000.
Okuoimose said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 339 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Fadahunsi Adefioye, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Adefioye adjourned the case until March 9 for mention.
