Teachers recruited by Oyetola beg Adeleke to accommodate them

Stakeholders in the Education Sector in Osun State have been admonished to temper justice with mercy for them to continue their teaching professions.

Mr. Wasiu Awoyemi, speaking on behalf of the teachers stated this at a peaceful protests embarked upon in Osogbo.

He disclosed that they’ve work for four months without collecting a dime. 

Mr. Awoyemi appealed to the Governor Ademola Adeleke to consider them and lift them from dust as most of them are breadwinners for their families.

He stressed that they were professional qualified to take up the job after rigorous screening during the recruitment exercise.

Sighted with placards in their hands with inscriptions such as ” Reinstate Us”, “Please don’t send us back to the streets”, “Osun State Students/Pupils need us”, “We followed due process” among others noted that they are not members of any political party.

According to Emmanuel Adedeji, one of them, who said he was posted to Ife-East local government area of the state, explained that many of the newly recruited had graduated for about ten to fifteen years without doing anything before they were employed by the immediate past administration.

He sought the intervention of all stakeholders and well-meaning citizens of the state to help them to plead with Governor Adeleke to reconsider them and lift the nullification placed on their employments.

“I am one of the 1,500 newly recruited teachers for both primary and secondary schools in Osun. I was given an appointment letter in September 30th, 2022 and the process for this recruitment began in the year 2020, through the year 2022 when we were told to pick up our appointment letters. Immediately, we were given an appointment letters, we all reported to our primary places of assignments.

He further explained that about four of them have been deceased as a result of depression and this peaceful protest is third of it’s kind.

They however admonished the governor of the state, Ademola Adeleke to reconsider their appointments as teachers in the state.

The committee constituted to review the appointments and recruitments made by his predecessor, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, afterJuly 16 governorship Election in the state is yet to make it’s report to the public.
