Electrician, 21, docked for allegedly selling customer’s car
A 21-year-old automobile electrician, Ojo Ibrahim, was on Thursday docked in an Upper Area Court, Gwagwalada, Abuja, for allegedly selling a customer’s Honda car.
The police charged Ibrahim, who lives in Shadadi Kuje, Abuja, with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
Prosecution counsel, Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that Salawu Michael of Pasali Kuje, Abuja, reported the matter at the Kuje Police Station on Jan. 20.
He said that the defendant sold the complainant’s vehicle for N550,000 and converted the money to his personal use.
Tanko added that, on Jan. 23, one Samson Johnson of ECWA Road, Kuje, Abuja, reported that he gave the defendant his Golf 3 car to sell for N550,000.
He said that the defendant sold the car, gave Johnson only N200,000 and converted N350,000 to his personal use.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravene the provision of Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code.
The Judge, Malam Abdullahi Abdulkarim, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
Abdulkarim ordered that the surety must reside within the Federal Capital Territory, and adjourned the case until March 22 for hearing.
